Anxiety can be crippling and debilitating to both a person's professional and personal life, and with anxiety disorders being among the most common mental of illnesses, relief in the form of treatment is an important issue. Unfortunately, most anxiety treatments invlove the use of medication, which brings with it undesirable side effects at even normally prescribed dosages.

The Brain Treatment Center offers an alternative

It has been shown that an individual suffering from an anxiety disorder has irregular brainwaves, increasing the metabolic activity of the brain and disturbing the individual's ability to concentrate effectively and cope with external events appropriately (See our Research Section). Using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS*) after assessing the anxiety disorder with a quantitative EEG review, we attempt to correct the electrophysiological balance that was contributing to anxiety contributing to anxiety. We deliver therapy without requiring medication, but in cases where medication is used, it is often possible to lower dosages, maintaining the medication efficacy while reducing side effects.

Anxiety disorder may not be the primary disorder

An anxiety disorder, as debilitating as it is, may not be the primary disorder. Anxiety can be caused as a result of depression and other disorders, presenting a situation where even if the anxiety is treated successfully, it will still resurface, as the underlying problem was not addressed. We specialize in looking behind the obvious primary disorder to identify and target mental disorders that would have otherwise gone unnoticed, and untreated. By identifying underlying disorders, they can be targeted with TMS treatment, and once these underlying disorders are dealt with, any secondary anxiety will also be addressed.
